Beschreibung
Xiangqi, a Chinese chess game, is a fascinating tactical game for two players that looks back on a history spanning thousands of years. While the original form of chess originated in India and later evolved into the European chess we know today, it found its own unique development in Asia – Xiangqi. This game combines profound strategy, tactical thinking, and cultural depth in a unique form.
Unlike classic chess, the Xiangqi board is not divided into squares, but into a grid of lines. The pieces—stylish wooden discs with printed Chinese symbols—move along these lines. A central river divides the board into two halves, with each side containing a palace. This is where the general, the equivalent of the king in chess, resides, accompanied by two mandarins who ensure his protection. The general may never leave his palace—capturing him or destroying his army is the object of the game.
Special pieces such as the chariot (comparable to the rook), the horse (similar to the knight), and the cannon with its unique capture rule add additional tactical depth to the game. Xiangqi challenges even experienced chess players—because despite certain parallels, the rules and strategies are completely different. Those who love strategic thinking will discover a new dimension with Xiangqi.
Crafted from fine wood, the game combines aesthetics with sophistication. Xiangqi by ROMBOL is not only a high-quality puzzle game, but also a stylish gift idea for lovers of board games, tactical games, and strategy games. An invitation to a mental challenge – with an Asian flair.
